The current health crisis has not only affected so many with physical health issues but many are suffering with mental health issues. With normal life, all over the world, being put on hold or at least drastically altered, many people may be experiencing feelings of stress or anxiety. There are many tools available that can help alleviate this.
Schools are an ideal place to promote good mental health; as such, SJRH teacher Ms. Jacob and CSC chair Dr. John Filo will facilitate an evening of discussion and exercises, on the benefits of breathing/meditation to help stabilize the breath and calm the mind. Our facilitators will walk us through a 1 hour guided meditation where they will slowly point our awareness inward to find that stillness within ourselves. The session will be interactive with an opportunity to ask questions at the end.
Let me reassure everyone this is NOT a religious practice, it is just simply a wellness exercise to bring one’s awareness inward to help settle the mind through breathwork, concentration and focus.
It will be a very relaxing and calming process with background music; it is simple and accessible to both parents and students. The goal is that it will help us incorporate mindfulness in daily life to help improve our overall wellness.
We look forward to many participating on Wednesday, February 24th at 7:00 pm. If interested, please complete this Google Form and we will forward you a link to access the session.
