We are preparing to safely reopen our school on Monday, January 17, 2022, with a focus on the health, safety, and well-being of all of our staff and students. Please rest assured that our re-entry plan is consistent with the updated guidance and directives set out by the York Region Public Health Department while respecting social norms. Risk mitigation will continue to involve a three-tiered approach that includes:
-
-
-
-
physical distancing,
-
hand and respiratory hygiene
-
mask-wearing
-
-
-
The following health and safety enhancements have been implemented by York Region Public Health and the YCDSB:
1. Updated Screening Tool:
-
-
-
This is to be completed daily by all students attending school. Please ensure you complete the screening daily, prior to sending your child to school.

2. Masking is required for all students, Grades K-8 as per YRPH mandate:
-
-
-
All students in Grades K-8 will be required to wear a mask at school
-
The recommendation is a three-layer well-fitted mask
-
Masking is not required while outdoors (recess/outdoor breaks)
-
-
3. Option for Temporary Remote Learning: At this time, families may choose a temporary option for students wishing to learn from home for the remainder of the first term. If families make this choice, classroom teachers will provide live synchronous learning in Math, Religion, and Languages through their virtual classrooms. They will also post asynchronous work for all other subjects and will check in with students from time to time during the school day to support their learning. The first check-in each day will be at the start of school to include taking attendance and morning announcements. It is important that students are online in their virtual classrooms at the start of each day (and after lunch) or they will be marked absent.
4. Loaned Technology: Students who were assigned technology during the school closure are asked to return the device on the 1st day back to in-person learning.
5. Lunch Routines: Students will eat their lunches at their own desks daily. Students that go home for lunch may return in the afternoon. Under the re-entry guidelines, we cannot accept items that are dropped off after the start of the school day. Parents are not to drop off lunches for their children.
-
-
-
All hot lunch programs will begin the week of January 17th.

6. Rapid Antigen Testing: Prior to the Christmas break, the Ministry of Education provided one (1) box of Rapid Antigen Tests for each student attending school in-person. If families still have some of these tests remaining, they are encouraged to use them for students before returning to school on Monday and to stay home if the student receives a positive test result. More information about rapid antigen tests will be shared once it is available.
Thank You, and we are looking forward to welcoming your children back to school!
